This studio project was led by Prof. Dr. Marc Angélil in fall 2016 at ETH Zürich. The design was inspired by literature and the urban context of the plot. The plot was surrounded by different building types and styles. An experimental approach to design was chosen.
The property lines were used as mirror lines. All surrounding buildings were mirrored onto the plot. The mirrored buildings were categorized by location and type and based on specific rules overlapping buildings were removed or merged. An accidental urban design of mixed building structures and styles emerged. The design is thus capable of creating an urban space that generates a smooth transition between the existing neighbouring quarters.
